The attempts of Spain at Power Recuperation int the sixties of the 19 th Century
Hertel, Petr ; Opatrný, Josef (advisor) ; Křížová, Markéta (referee) ; Barteček, Ivo (referee)
The thesis The Attempts of Spain at Power Recuperation in the sixties of the 19th Century analyzes five actions of military and naval character undertaken by the Spanish Monarchy out of its territories roughly between the years 1858 and 1866, along with their preconditions, circumstances, course, and results. In the comparison with two actions realized or initiated by Spain as early as towards the close of the 1850s (her participation in the French intervention in Vietnam in 1858-1863, the war against Morocco in 1859-1860), an profounder attention is paid to three interventions effectuated from 1861 in the American countries which still approximately four decades before had been creating components of her great overseas empire (the reannexation of Santo Domingo in 1861- 1865; the participation in the so-called Tripartite Intervention in Mexico in 1861-1862; the naval expedition towards the South America's Pacific watersides that culminated in Spanish-Peruvian controversy of 1864 and afterwards, in the so-called First Pacific War, managed in 1865-1866 by Spain against the South America's Pacific republics, primarily against Chile and Peru). After all, just the Hispanic American emancipation, consummated in the 1820s (and thus, the decomposition of the great Spanish empire in continental America, after three...

Recitation, Reworking and Reference: Literary Allusions in the Plays of Eugene O'Neill
Horká, Natálie ; Wallace, Clare (advisor) ; Ulmanová, Hana (referee)
The aim of this BA thesis is to closely analyse the ways in which Eugene O'Neill embeds other texts from the literary canon in his work and how these references to other texts influence his plays. Mainly focusing on Long Day's Journey into Night, its sequel A Moon for the Misbegotten, Desire Under the Elms, and the trilogy Mourning Becomes Electra, the thesis explores O'Neill's work with intertextuality. Focusing on Long Day's Journey into Night and its sequel A Moon for the Misbegotten the thesis traces O'Neill's use of citation as a means of building characters and themes. O'Neill borrows quotes from canonical literary works to enhance his characters' expression. He utilizes intertextuality and literary allusions in order to create a very specific communication channel through which the characters express their minds. Especially in Long Day's Journey into Night the number of literary allusions is remarkable and raises the question of whether the quotations are a way of expressing the characters' identities or whether it is a vehicle that O'Neill uses to give the play a more universal and all-embracing feature. The thesis also contrasts these direct quotations with another notion of literary allusion present in O'Neill's work - his interpretation and repurposing of traditional dramatic themes...

However, most papers covering the topic were focused on prints; handwritten sources are being analysed marginally and unsystematically. The aim of this dissertation is to provide a more...
Waste in 19th century in Prague as example of city-hinterland interactions
Stružková, Radka ; Matoušek, Václav (advisor) ; Hudeček, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis deals with waste and waste management in 19th century in Prague. The theoretical basis is the concept of "urban metabolism", which part is waste, as the metabolic output. Waste is also seen as an example of interactions between city and its hinterland. The intention of this thesis is to prove the proposition on the case of Prague, that the 19th century wasn't the century of waste. At the time of progressing industrialization and demand of raw materials there was the tendency to reuse every potentially usable material. This thesis describes based on literature and especially on analysis of archival documents the particular steps of waste management in 19th century in Prague (city cleaning, collection, transport and disposal of waste), whereas the main concern lays in interaction of city and its hinterland in context of waste disposal. The results of the analysis are widely interpreted in conclusions. key words: waste, waste management, Prague, "the long" 19th century, process of industrialization, interactions of city and its hinterland, social and urban metabolism, environmental history

Lakatioin and increased physical activity after childbirth
VYŽRALOVÁ, Tereza
The puerperium period is a very sensitive period. A woman has to familiarize herself with her new role as a mother. During the post-natal period the woman's body is returning to the same condition as it was before giving birth. After the birth a woman has to adapt to new situations and learn a lot, especially if she is a first-time mother. The Bachelor´s Thesis develops the topic of "Breastfeeding and increased physical activity after childbirth". The Thesis is divided into 2 parts. The first part consists of theory and the second part describes the research. The theoretical part is focused on the breast anatomy, physiology of lactation, principles of successful breastfeeding and a variety of sports activities listed below, i.e. sports activities recommended and non-recommended after the postpartum period, the benefits of increased physical activity after childbirth and physical changes during pregnancy. The research part of the Bachelor´s Thesis focuses on the frequency and type of physical activity women do after giving birth. The author also monitored whether the women exercised during pregnancy, and if so, under which circumstances. The research also examined whether the women were breastfeeding or not, whether they had any problems with breastfeeding or their breasts, and investigated how the women breastfed while exercising, or whether they limited one activity at the expense of the other. The Thesis focused on one goal, which was to determine the effect of the increased physical activity had on breastfeeding. The designated research questions were as follows: "Which physical activity do women do after giving birth? How often do women exercise after giving birth? How did the physical activity impact breastfeeding? How long did/do women breastfeed?" The research was conducted by using a qualitative method of semi-structured interviews to be able to ask a woman supplementary questions beyond the established structure. The empirical part was performed from January to March 2017. One research sample consisted of 10 respondents. The interviews with respondents were conducted through Skype. The individual data were captured in writing or by using audio recording depending on the respondent´s approval. The data gathered were transcribed in the form of standard Czech. When interpreting the data, the direct respondents´ quotes were used. As emerged from the research part, the women who are very actively engaged in sports, do not have to reduce breastfeeding due to sports activities. All of the respondents did not restrict breastfeeding and nursed the children according to their children´s needs. Some women encountered some breast problems, such as mastitis and retention. The problem, however, may not have been caused by physical activity, since the problem occurred during the period when the women did not exercise. Some women encountered difficulties when exercising, but they did not stop breastfeeding. They solved the breast problems by using various methods, natural and medical, and continued successfully with breastfeeding. During the study, none of the women mentioned to have had any issues with the child s rejecting breast milk immediately after any increased physical activity. The research study suggests that it is possible to breastfeed and do increase physical activity after childbirth. Women should therefore be informed about this fact by their midwife. It is important that women do not reduce breastfeeding at the expense of physical activity. This fact was not proved in the research part. The conclusion proves that womenafter childbirth do not limit breastfeeding at the expense of their leisure time activities because breast milk is the best food for new-borns. The bachelor thesis can be used to improve awareness of postpartum women who are involved in increased physical activity (fitness).
Labour market, active employment policy and projects under way co-funded by the European Social Fund in the region of Vysočina.
Hanáková, Eva ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Chalupníček, Pavel (referee)
To quote the author Oldřich Fišer: "Everyone lives off work, but not always their own work." The subject of the present thesis is the latter part of the sentence, that is unemployment. In the region of Vysocina, the current unemployment rate is 8.9%, which is, more than twice the average for the whole Czech Republic. As part of the Operational Programme Human Resources and Employment in the period 2007-2013, there are currently five projects under way co-funded by the European Social Fund, their aim being to reduce the unemployment rate. Of these projects, three are relatively successful and two unsuccessful. The failure is caused by focus on the long-term unemployed in one case and by a long delay in launching the project in the other. It is seen as a problem that the current evaluation of project success is based on fulfilment of only a few indicators. It is proposed that the evaluation of success should be interconnected with the sum of money which was put into the projects. The conclusion is as follows: for these projects to be successful, the participants have to be employed for so long as to repay the state the relevant expenses in full. The final part of the thesis deals with the issue of whether the projects should target short-term or long-term unemployed. Based on the findings obtained, the suggested solution for long-term unemployment is to focus on the short-term unemployed and to make adjustments in the system of social benefits.
